Fiona read English at King's College, London, and trained in Acting at the Oxford School of Drama. A finalist in the 1999 Madeline Finden Singing Competition, and winner of the Dinah Brooks Award, Fiona received a Dartington International Summer School Bursary for vocal studies, before being invited to perform in the Lauderdale House public master-class series. This was also the venue for her recital of arias and duets with the baritone, Paul Sheehan, including the repertoire of Saint Saëns, Fauré, Debussy, Duparc, Schubert, Purcell, Korngold and Mozart. Opera roles include Despina (Così fan Tutte), 2nd Lady (The Magic Flute), Mercédès (Carmen), Flora (La Traviata), Contessa di Ceprano (Rigoletto), Ida (Die Fledermaus), Jou Jou/Praskowia (The Merry Widow) and May Queen (Merrie England) for ETO, European Chamber Opera, London City Opera and Starlight. Dancing featured quite strongly in several of the productions, as she worked quite extensively with the Olivier and Tony Award winning director and choreographer, Terry John Bates; Flora dancing the tango and Ida performing Russian and Spanish period dances are just two examples. Engagements have included extensive tours of the UK, Europe (including the Milan Opera Festival), USA, the Middle and Far East. Fiona also appeared in the Channel 4 Jonathan Dove Opera "When She Died...Death Of A Princess". Fiona continues her vocal studies with Jenny Caron in London. |
